Hello NMRC!

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped de-rig and move the small boats to storage. Many hands make light work! We are grateful to Diane Hamilton for allowing us to store our small boats in her pole building again this winter! Also, a big thank you to the intrepid volunteers who earned NMRC $1000 by assisting at the Sleeping Bear Marathon. It was a productive weekend!

Toggle in for a few more October rows and start thinking about winter training! Details below!

Let’s Celebrate a Great Season!

Marti Chamberlain says winter training is worth it!

Last winter, I joined NMRC’s indoor rowing program, starting with the Learn to Row session in Rowvember ‘24. It was a great introduction to both the sport of rowing and the local rowing community. The workouts were challenging but manageable, and the atmosphere was friendly and supportive. I learned a lot, stayed active through the winter, and connected with others who share an interest in fitness and rowing. Coaches Diane, Lindy, and Daniel were fantastic—knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about the sport of rowing. Their guidance made the erg sessions both productive and enjoyable. The program also gave me a solid foundation heading into the 2025 on-water season. If you're thinking about joining the indoor program this winter, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Important: Boat Care Reminder

Please swap out your metal water bottles for plastic or silicone protected water bottles. Metal bottles damage the inner hull of the boats much faster. Thanks to Todd Antrim from TACR who taught Elizabeth how to patch damage caused by by the wear and tear. Elizabeth says her patches may not be pretty, but they will keep the boats afloat!
