Hello NMRC!

Happy Fall. We’ve been getting some great weather to row in lately. We hope it continues!

Money earned at volunteer events like the Polka Fest, the M22 Challenge and the Sleeping Bear Marathon adds up! It helps keep NMRC boats afloat and our member costs down.

We are grateful for the members who are able to participate in these events — you also earn NMRC recognition and good will throughout the community! These events contribute to your membership volunteer 10 hour requirement as well.

That said, we need at least 10 volunteers for the Sleeping Bear Marathon to fulfill NMRC’s commitment to this great Leelanau event! This is just 2 weeks away! See information below and sign up.

PLEASE SIGN UP!

The Sleeping Bear Marathon is October 4 and our volunteer time period is from 7 am to 2 pm. This day is easy and fun. It involves cheering on and directing runners as they come down the home stretch of the course. It’s a great way to spread the word about our club while supporting athletes meet their goals. It’s also a great reminder of why we choose to row rather than run. Bring snacks, a folding chair and wear your NMRC gear! The money the Club earns for this event is an important part of our annual budget! Sign up is on iCrew at Club Home > Club Events.

Rowing Schedules

Morning rowers please double check start times for your rows. Adjustments for light change will be at 7:30 am instead of 7 am.

Also keep your eyes out for another possible moonlight row on October 6!

Regatta Recap

NMRC rowers had a blast at TACR’s Henley Regatta on the Boardman Lake. Congratulations to everyone who participated and to everyone for making the de-rigging, re-rigging processes smooth and easy!

If you attended and haven’t yet paid the $35 fee, you can do that on iCrew at Club Home > Club Store. Thanks to Dana for organizing and Daniel for getting the trailer to and from the event Hats off to Erika, Betsy, Justin and Daniel for your jaw-dropping quad gold medal time under four minutes for 1000 meters!!! Huge thanks to TACR for hosting another great event!

De-Rigging Small Boats

We will be de-rigging and storing small boats on October 5 from 10 am to 12 pm after the Sunday morning row at Solon Township Park. Meet at the boathouse and bring tools! Once de-rigged, we will load boats on available car racks and transport them to a storage pole barn in Empire. If you have a vehicle with racks that can carry small shells, please bring it! Our rain date for this event is Saturday, October 11 from 10 am to 12 pm.

It is imperative all members participate in the end of season derigging of the boats regardless of volunteer hours completed. If you can’t make this one, we will have big boats to derig and get ready for winter storage as well.

Winter Training

Plans are in the works for winter training at the Sleeping Bear Bay Club in Maple City! Pricing and times coming out soon!
